Sand Key Park
The main attraction of this key is the Sand Key County Park and the Clearwater Community Sailing Center. In addition, the key also hosts a US Coast Guard station.
Sand Key itself offers a wide range of restaurants, banking, and shopping and tourist services, but on the north end is a lovely little park with a spectacular, quiet beach. The park is open on all days until dark. The main activities of the area are swimming and picnicking.
The facilities available at Sand Key Park are bath houses with restrooms and changing areas and beach showers. The beach is broad with soft, white sand. This place is typically less active, so it is ideal for those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere.
Kayak and umbrella/cabana rentals are available. A lifeguard is on duty on a seasonal basis. A concession is usually available for snacks and light meals. Within the park is a separate fenced area for pets (mostly dogs) to run and play
The picnic grounds have covered shelters, grills, and a children's playground. Parking cost a flat daily rate paid via pay stations. The park is open until dark.
